Liberty University School of Law proudly announces the Center for Prosecution (CFP), a groundbreaking new expansion of the law school. The CFP is designed to provide in-depth instruction to Liberty law school students, state and federal prosecutors, and law enforcement personnel, based on the Christian worldview. Several round-table discussions and workshops will be offered throughout the year based on current criminal justice and prosecution law topics.
According to Liberty Law Associate Professor and Director of the Center for Prosecution, Cynthia Tompkins, the center “will act as a nucleus for prosecution law education and training resources at Liberty.”
Based on her professional observations, Tompkins also believes there is a tremendous need for training in the area of prosecution. “I believe that many of the errors made by prosecutors today result from the need for additional expert training – this is where Liberty University School of Law comes in,” said Tompkins.
The first four-hour long workshop and roundtable discussion is scheduled for Friday, November 16, at 8:30 AM, in the law school’s Supreme Courtroom. The following topics are scheduled to be addressed: 1) Prosecuting Internet Crimes Against Children, and 2) Ethics, Brady and Discovery Obligations – Guidance for Prosecutors. This training session will provide Virginia Commonwealth’s Attorneys and Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorneys with comprehensive training on the skills needed to effectively prosecute Internet crimes against children.
The training session is $35. 2 Virginia Bar MCLE Ethics Credit pending.
