Alumna Jennifer Stevens, Class of 2011, has accepted the position of Assistant District Attorney for the Waynesville, NC, District Attorney’s office. Stevens took the oath of office yesterday morning at the Haywood County Courthouse and will serve under the leadership of District Attorney Michael Bonfoey in the 30th Prosecutorial District of Waynesville.

In a press release sent by the District Attorney’s office, Bonfoey said, “[Ms. Stevens] will fill the duties in my office as the domestic violence prosecutor for our domestic violence prosecution team. She will be assigned to the Waynesville office and will have responsibilities in Haywood County for the domestic violence criminal caseload.”

As a law student Stevens was heavily involved in moot court and often expressed her interest in prosecution.

Upon being sworn in, she said, “I am excited about this opportunity to join the District Attorney’s Office and prosecute domestic violence cases. I have wanted to be a prosecutor since my first year of law school. I look forward to this new challenge.”
