Liberty University School of Law unveiled the third edition of the Liberty Legal Journal last week on Wednesday, November 30, 2011, in the final law school chapel service of the semester. The Journal is a student-led publication that offers readers a variety of articles and personal testimonies concerning issues involving the legal world.
Katherine Charapich, Editor-in-Chief for the Liberty Legal Journal and member of the Class of 2012, devoted much time to refining the journal while maintaining its purpose. “The vision of the Journal team is to ensure that each edition provides legal expression and legal thought based on the truth of Christ,” she said. “Producing a legal journal that has a focus on the law, as established by the Lawgiver, provides a communication medium that relays to those within legal and policy-making fields. A positive aspect of producing issues back-to-back is that it is fresh in one’s mind what policies and procedures need to be refined.”
While each issue of the Liberty Legal Journal is not thematic, several articles within this issue deal directly, and indirectly, with a most vulnerable member of society – the child. “From tackling topics from child labor, to child abuse, to child custody, to child poverty, and its consequences, it is clear through this issue that Liberty law students and professors are keyed into the manifold aspects of children and the law,” said Charapich.
According to Mathew Staver, Dean of Liberty University School of Law, who receives hundreds of legal journals and publications from law schools around the country every semester, “there is nothing that I have seen in my tenure as Dean that even comes close to what has been produced by our Liberty law students. I am exceptionally proud of the student members of the Journal team who poured countless hours into producing this quality publication.”
