Liberty University School of Law and Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary & Graduate School will once again meet on the gridiron battlefield for the Third Annual Turkey Bowl on Saturday, November 13, at 11:00 A.M. at Williams Stadium. This collegial game of flag football raises support for the Liberty Godparent Home, a Christian organization founded by the late Dr. Jerry Falwell. Having won the inaugural contest in 2008, the Seminary hoped to reclaim their title as Turkey Bowl Champions in the second year. However, the law school’s redemption came as a 14-12 victory.
Following the game, the law school and seminary will host the Chili Cook-off. In addition to enjoying food and fellowship, aspiring chefs may enter the chili cook-off to determine the best chili. Last year’s winner was Eric Gordon (School of Law Class of 2010).
For the past two years, the real winner of the epic clash has been the Godparent Home as thousands of dollars have been raised to support the ministry.
The Liberty Godparent Foundation is devoted to improving the quality of life for unwed pregnant teens, babies, and adoptive families by providing two separate support services: Liberty Godparent Maternity Home and Family Life Services Adoption Agency. The organization aims to empower young pregnant girls in crisis with the ability to realize the value of their life and the life of their unborn child, and in other cases, facilitate the adoption process.
