Liberty University School of Law hosted the 2010-2011 Pancakes and Politics Breakfast for the Lynchburg Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday, December 7. For the second year in a row the Liberty University School of Law along with the Liberty University Helms School of Government co-sponsored this policy briefing breakfast bringing together local legislators and leaders from the community to address the legislative agenda of the 2011 Virginia General Assembly session.
Central Virginia legislators including Senator Steve Newman (VA Senate District 23), Delegate Kathy Byron (VA House District 22), Nicole Manley, a 2009 graduate of Liberty University School of Law, representing Delegate Ben Cline (VA House District 24), and Delegate Scott Garrett (VA House District 23), addressed about 75 invited guests in the law school’s Mountain View Room. Legislators addressed key items on their policy agenda for the 2011 General Assembly Session and how the various policies will effect local businesses; the local delegation focused on policy initiatives that would improve the region’s business climate, as well as ideas birthed from economic current challenges and election results. Also present were Lynchburg City Council members Turner Perrow, Jr. and Hundson “H” Carey, III.
The event is the first in a series of 2010-2011 Pancakes and Politics breakfasts with the second breakfast held upon the conclusion of the General Assembly session.
