Reaching the world through Fulbright 

Fulbright Director Dr. Daniel Kramer

The School of Law hosted the Director of the Fulbright U.S. Student Program, Dr. Daniel Kramer, on September 28 with over 120 National Merit and National Merit Honors Commended Program students, Liberty University Fulbright committee members, and faculty and students in attendance.

 

The Fulbright program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, is the largest U.S. exchange program for current undergraduates and graduate students as well as young professionals. It offers opportunities for international graduate study, advanced research, university teaching and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide.  With operations in over 140 countries, the program awards approximately 1,700 grants annually.

 

“I am continually amazed by the global reach of Liberty’s programs, students, faculty, and [alumni]…a reach that has expanded tremendously over my 30 years with the university.  However, our recent commitment to the Fulbright program has taken our campus internationalization efforts to a new and very exciting level.  I am very proud to be associated with the Fulbright Committee,” said William Wegert, D.Min. Dean, International Student Programs and Director, Resident Graduate Admissions Resident Enrollment.

 

During his address at the law school, Dr. Kramer outlined practical tips on what students can do during their college career to enhance their chances of being selected as a Fulbright scholar. He also explained how engaging in academic and cultural exchanges will advance participants’ careers worldwide. “Dan Kramer brought incredible enthusiasm and insight to the Fulbright Program, especially how our Liberty students and faculty can best succeed in getting Fulbright scholarships,” said Dr. Barry N. Moore, a Liberty University vice president and Fulbright committee chairman.

 

Professor Edna Udobong, Fulbright, Boren/Gilman programs advisor and campus representative, encouraged students to get involved in the Fulbright Program and explained that the Fulbright Program “offers not only tangible benefits such as academic enhancement and cultural enrichment but it also offers a global opportunity to influence the world on issues of global importance.”
