The Honorable William L. Witham Jr., Kent County Resident Judge for the state of Delaware, was recently a guest lecturer at Liberty University School of Law. This event, hosted by the Center for Career & Professional Development, provided an opportunity for students to learn about pre-trial and trial attorney conduct. Students from the Liberty University Helms School of Government attended the lecture along with the School of Law students.
Teresa Gordon, a third-year law student commented, “Judge Witham’s comments were highly practical. He took the problems he has seen in his courtroom and distilled them into several pithy and practical ‘do’s and dont’s’ that will help me and others in my class who want to be litigators to be more effective in our careers.”
Mark Pemberton, a third-year law student agreed with Ms. Gordon. “Judge Witham shared valuable insights on professionalism and effective advocacy from the perspective of the bench.”
Prior to joining the Superior Court, Judge Witham was a partner with Pricket, Jones, Elliott & Kristol in Dover, Delaware. He earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland in 1973 and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Delaware in 1970. He has served as president of the Kent County Bar Association and as the vice president of the Delaware State Bar Association. He is also a retired Delaware Army National Guard Colonel.
