Today, February 23, the Liberty Counsel Student Organization and the Federalist Society at Liberty University School of Law and will present a special debate entitled, “Does Abortion Help or Hurt Women?” The debate featuring Lori Meetre and Frances Kissling will be held in the law school’s Supreme Courtroom and will begin at 2:15 PM.
Ms. Meetre currently serves as the Executive Director for the Blue Ridge Pregnancy Center (BRPC). The BRPC is a Faith Based Crisis Pregnancy Center where all services are free and confidential and include: pregnancy tests, limited obstetrical ultrasound, parenting and life skills classes, post abortion counseling and a men's program. Ms. Kissling is currently a Visiting Scholar at the University of Pennsylvania Center for Bioethics and School of Medicine. Having written numerous articles on reproductive health and religion, her work has appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, The Nation, Huffington Post, Salon, RH Reality Check and the Journal of Feminist Studies in Religion. She has been called the “philosopher of the prochoice movement.”
“The holocaust of the unborn has supporters and detractors. The supporters feel unborn children must die that others may be ‘free.’ The detractors argue that all human life is a sacred gift from God governed by the Commandment ‘Thou shalt not kill,’” according to Martin Wishnatsky, President of the Liberty Counsel Student Organization. “This debate will feature a prominent advocate of the abortion holocaust [Kissling] and a woman who suffered devastating after effects from abortion [Adams] – the abortion holocaust is in our midst. We cannot ignore it.”
This debate is a continuation of the Genocide Symposium held last week at Liberty.
