On February 15, 2012, Dean Mathew Staver spoke along with Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli during a Pro-Life rally held in Richmond, Virginia. People from across the Commonwealth of Virginia showed their support of House Bill 1, a bill recognizing that “unborn children have protectable interests in life, health, and well-being.” The rally was held at the Bell Tower at Capital Square in Richmond, near the intersection of Ninth and Franklin Streets.
On Monday, February 13, the Virginia House voted in favor of the bill. Now the bill will move to the State Senate. H.B. 1 is sponsored by Delegate Bob Marshall (R-Manassas) who also spoke at the rally.
Additional speakers for the rally included Dean Nelson of the Frederick Douglass Foundation, who worked with the Virginia Christian Alliance to organize the event.
Staver commented: “The right to life is the right of all rights. Without the right to life, all other rights are meaningless. The sanctity of human life is the cornerstone of liberty. House Bill 1 is aptly named, because the right to life should be our first and foremost priority.”
