Liberty Law Professor Lectures at National Tax Conference

Liberty University School of Law professor Tim Todd recently addressed a conference of attorneys who are also licensed as certified public accountants on the subject of tax litigation.
 
Professor Todd lectured at the American Association of Attorney-Certified Public Accountants’ (AAA-CPA) fall meeting and education conference in Las Vegas, NV. The AAA-CPA is comprised of individuals who are licensed both as attorneys and certified public accountants. Todd lectured on recent developments in tax jurisprudence in the Federal Circuit and Court of Federal Claims.
 
Professor Todd addressed how attorneys can use the United States Court of Federal Claims and its appellate court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, in tax controversy litigation. "An understanding of the precedent in these two courts can greatly aid a lawyer as he or she selects a tax controversy forum," Todd said.
 
Professor Todd, who is both a lawyer and certified public accountant, teaches taxation and transactional law courses at Liberty University School of Law. "One of my areas of focus is tax litigation and tax jurisprudence in the Court of Federal Claims," said Todd. He formerly worked for that court, which allows him to offer keen insight into its workings.
 
Earlier this year, Professor Todd spoke to a regional meeting of the AAA-CPA on the tax jurisdiction and tax practice in the United States Court of Federal Claims.
 
“We are making strides in our tax and transactional law program here at the law school. We have a lot of students—and prospective students—who are interested in tax law. Liberty University School of Law is place where we will train them to be excellent tax lawyers," he said.
