The Thurgood Marshall Memorial Moot Court Competition is held annually in conjunction with the Federal Bar Association’s mid-year meeting. This year’s case centered on issues of preemption of state statutes by federal law, and when a corporation will be considered a “limited purpose public figure” in a defamation law suit. Arguments for the competition are held in courthouses throughout Washington, D.C., including the D.C. Superior Courthouse, the U.S. District Courthouse, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Armed Forces Courthouse.
