Engineering Your Future with Career Services

The Engineering Career Fair kicked off with a bang in the alumni ballroom Thursday afternoon. Students were lined up to get inside and potentially meet their future friends and coworkers for the first time. 30 employers came out to the event, giving students an incredible opportunity to network and pursue internships and jobs, regardless of if they were a freshman or a senior.
The Engineering Fair Experience
Dozens of ties and skirts filled the aisles of the Engineering Fair as students dressed to impress and pursued their futures. Lines formed at the headshot booth, where students could have a professional picture taken, but everywhere else, students had so many options that there was almost no wait to talk with a representative.

Patience and professionalism were on full display, and those are just two of the many traits employers at the fair were looking for. According to Mark Keisler, a representative for Simplimatic Automations, other valuable traits include a good work ethic, organization skills, and good communication skills. These qualities alongside kindness and respect for others are very important for prospective interns and employees to have.
Everything from construction firms to solar energy project contractors showed up to the fair, giving students the chance to meet with a wide variety of companies from all over the country. Even if one company did not fit your needs, there were over 20 others to check out. Internships and jobs were both being offered as well, broadening the appeal to students who may not be looking for permanent employment yet.
Companies were more than willing to support students from the offset too. “We’re just 16 people, and we’re an ESOP which means we’re employee-owned, so it’s a lot more like a family than a big corporation,” said Grant Beasley, a representative for Master Engineers and Designers. The Engineering Career Fair was an opportunity not just for students to get a job, but maybe even a chance to find the place they belong.
