Best Tips to Preparing for the Engineering Career Fair
Employers are coming to connect with Engineering students and alumni. This is a chance to hear about job opportunities and internships available.
The fair takes place on Thursday, October 7th from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. It will be located in the Montview Alumni Ballroom on the 3rd floor.
To register for the event, click here. Those who pre-register by Wednesday, October 6th at 8:00 a.m. will receive certain perks.
Pre-Register allows you to
- View all employers in attendance
- See the opportunities/positions they are hiring for
- Expedite the check in process on day of
- Be given a pre-printed name tag for the event
Getting Prepared
Taking the time to prepare for the event will help you to stand out to employers and feel confident in your presentation. Meeting with a career coach and practicing with peers can help you nail the first impression.
“To prepare, I would say to practice your introduction, elevator speech, and key questions with a career coach, friend, family, or in the mirror to feel confident and to fluently deliver your speech to represent yourself well. Also, know your resume and skills to confidently talk about them with the company representatives.” – Dave Smith.

In preparation for the event attendees are encouraged to:
- Meet with their Career Coach
- Submit their resume for review
- Research the employers and create questions to ask
- Attend free upcoming workshops
- Practice interviewing to come off conversational
