International Internships

International internships offer Liberty students the opportunity to gain hands-on, professional experience in a cross-cultural environment while fulfilling academic requirements or building their résumé. These experiences help you grow as a Champion for Christ and a global citizen.
Types of Internship Opportunities
You can complete your internship abroad in a variety of formats, including:
- Practicums
- Field Experiences
- Student Teaching
- Professional Internships (credit or non-credit)
Non-Vetted Internships
LU Send does not recommend that students participate with outside organizations as they are not vetted by LU Send for safety & risk management, housing quality, or on-site support. To pursue a non-vetted internship, students must still work with LU Send by completing all required steps and gain department approval for their internship course.
Paying for Your Program
Financial Aid & Scholarships: The types of financial aid a student can use when interning abroad depend on the type of program they choose and if they are completing the internship for credit or professional experience. Please refer to the Policies & Guidelines page for specific information.
Non-Vetted Internships: Pay travel and program costs directly to your host organization according to their schedule. Required tuition and the LU Send fee must still be paid through Financial Check-In.
Note: Final financial aid awards are determined by the Financial Aid Office. Please note that in all cases, Liberty’s General Scholarship Rule applies.
