Research Ethics Office

The Research Ethics Office ensures that research conducted by Liberty University students, faculty, and staff complies with government regulations and institutional policies. Consisting of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), which reviews research involving human subjects, the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), which reviews studies involving animals, and the Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), which reviews studies involving biohazardous material, the Research Ethics Office confirms that research will be conducted in a safe, ethical manner.

Review and approval by the applicable committee are required prior to the commencement of research.

Institutional Review Board (IRB)

The IRB reviews research involving human participants to ensure their privacy, confidentiality, and safety.

Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC)

The IBC confirms that all research involving the use of biohazardous materials is done in accordance with the law.

Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee (IACUC)

IACUC ensures that all vertebrate animals used for research or instruction are treated ethically, humanely, and in a lawful manner.
