Biography
Dean Bohm joined the Helms School of Government in July 2024 after serving over 34 years in the United States Marine Corps. He and his wife Katrina represent a lifetime of service and sacrifice to our country and our communities.
Katrina comes from a family of service. Her grandfather, father, and brother served in the Army, and her stepfather and son served in the Marines. Katrina has served our community with over 30 years in the banking industry. She currently serves as the Senior Vice President & Commercial Banking Relationship Manager with the Bank of the James and volunteers her time on serval nonprofit boards.
Katrina has served on the Board of Directors for The Greater Lynchburg Habitat for Humanity, Miller House for Girls, and City of Lynchburg’s Loan Committee for Small Business Loans. She currently serves on the Board for the Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation and the Board of Directors for the Lynchburg Police Foundation, serving as Treasurer, Secretary, and President.
Major General Bohm served 34 years as an active-duty Marine. An infantryman by trade, he commanded Marines at every level from the platoon to Marine Air, Ground, Task Force levels in peacetime and war. He participated in several operations and served in several critical staff positions in the supporting establishment in joint and combined commands.
As a General Officer he served as Commanding General, Marine Corps Training Command, Chief of Staff, Naval Striking and Support Forces, NATO, Commanding General, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, and as the Inspector General of the Marine Corps.
The Bohms attend Calvary Chapel in Lynchburg, Virginia. They see their common mission as being to train and educate champions for Christ, as they share the gospel, help others to find God, and grow together as one in the word. They have four daughters, two sons, three sons-in-law, and six grandchildren.
