    • EDUC 235/EDUC 188/189 (Comprehensive and Secondary)
    • KINE 245 (Physical Education)

Academic Requirements

  • Degree Completion Plan Audit
    • Teacher Licensure Major
    • 3.0 Cumulative GPA*
    • EDUC 125 or EDUC 201 – Completion with a grade of C or higher

  • Reading assessment
  • Writing assessment
  • VCLA

Other Requirements

  • Proof of completed Background Clearances
    • Criminal Background
    • Virginia Child Abuse Clearances
    • FBI Fingerprints
    • Individual state child abuse clearances (requirements vary per last five years of residency)
  • Residential Candidates
    • Tuberculosis (TB) Test
      • Must indicate a negative TB result
      • Must be valid
      • Valid for one year after test date
    • Liability Insurance – Christian Educator Association International
      • Must be valid
      • Select “Members with Coverage Student” option

Your application will be reviewed by the Gate Office within two weeks of your submission.  You will receive an email from the Gate Office indicating your application status.  This email will provide further instructions according to your status.

Green Status

  • You have met all of the requirements for Gate 2 for Program Status Check and should begin to prepare for Gate 3 requirements.
  • You should be able to register for the appropriate classes through ASIST within 24-48 hours of your approval.

 

Yellow Status

  • You have met conditional expectations on one or more items. You must further prepare to meet expectations of Gate 3, in addition to all other Gate 3 requirements.
  • You should be able to register for the appropriate classes through ASIST within 24-48 hours of your approval.

Red Status

  • You have not met the minimum Gate 2 requirements. 
  • Review your application rubric carefully for details about how to update your application.
