Biography

Dr. Rich Diddams is the Dean School of Business and concurrently serves as Asst. Vice Provost of Engineering and Technology & Professional Engagement. Rich came to Liberty following a career in industry. Rich founded an Architectural and Engineering firm operating in 17 states and overseas.  His work led to designing numerous Department of Veteran hospital clinics in the US as well as designs for overseas building designs for the US State Department.  While in industry, Rich also served as the Chief of Staff for LOGCAP III overseeing 52,000 employees supporting 200,000 US and Coalition forces in the Middle East and Central Asia in addition to ensuring civilian compliance with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR).

As a Marine Infantry Officer, Rich held numerous leadership and command positions in both peace and war.  His duties including command at multiple levels as well as Budget Officer for the Marine Corps Manpower where he developed econometric models for the Marine Corps and provided counsel to the Senate and House Appropriations and Authorization committees.  While serving on the Joint Staff, Rich was the lead counterterrorism analyst supporting the President of the United States and NSC post 911.  He concluded his service in direct support of the Vice Chairman, Joint Chief of Staff following a combat tour in Iraq where he received the Bronze Star with Valor and Purple Heart.

In addition to his service at Liberty, Rich also currently serves as the Commanding General for the Virginia Defense Force.
