Testimonials

“Overall, my experience during the residency was transformative. It was not merely a series of academic sessions; it was a holistic journey that integrated faith, community, and scholarship. The emphasis on Christian values throughout the program resonated deeply with me, reinforcing the importance of approaching my studies with a servant’s heart and a commitment to upholding Christ's teachings. The encouragement from lecturers and the comprehensive involvement of students created an environment that fostered personal and academic growth. I left the residency not only with enhanced knowledge but also with renewed purpose and motivation.”

“This was an amazing experience. I cannot wait to come back! Thank you to all who put this together. I needed this, and I am encouraged to finish. Before arriving, I had contemplated my decision to be in this program. Now, I'm committed to the end.”

“I am almost in the middle of my DBA program, so I wanted to go to the Doctoral Conference to learn about what is coming next, and I met my purpose, getting to know peers who are almost at the end or more advanced than me, as well as the professors, which helped me to listen their advice and it will help me to make a better plan for my next courses. To answer this question, I would say that all the sessions were very beneficial for me.”

“From the outset, the residency was rooted in a mission to cultivate PhD candidates who would utilize their expertise to serve humanity and reflect God’s image in their work. This foundational principle set a tone of purpose and intention that influenced every aspect of the program. The integration of faith and scholarship enabled me to appreciate the divine calling of pursuing a doctorate and the responsibilities that accompany it. It reminded me that knowledge is not merely for personal advancement but is a tool for serving others, aligning with the biblical principle of stewardship.”

“Throughout the residency, I encountered numerous moments of encouragement that fortified my resolve to persevere in my doctoral journey. The supportive community of fellow candidates and faculty members fostered an environment of collaboration and shared aspirations. Hearing stories of others’ challenges and triumphs reminded me that the path to a doctorate is often fraught with obstacles, yet it is also filled with opportunities for growth and resilience. The collective encouragement served as a powerful motivator, instilling in me a belief that my work is valuable and that I am not alone in this journey.”

“Reflecting on my experience, I felt an undeniable connection to the LU community. From the lecturers to the attendees and even the tour guide, a palpable excitement permeated the residency. This sense of belonging was invigorating; it was evident that everyone was invested in not only their success but also in the success of their peers. The interactions were characterized by warmth and encouragement, which made the academic environment feel less intimidating and more collaborative. This connection fostered a spirit of unity, reminding us that we were all on a shared journey, striving together towards our goals.”

“I am significantly more connected to LU now! Prior to this residency, I had no specific ties to the university, and I now feel compelled to engage in a much more formal manner (watching convo/community online, attention to sports teams and scores, etc). These ancillary benefits to the terminal degree programs are secondary thoughts in overall benefits, and I will be closely aligned going forward.”

“The overall experience was terrific.  Being in person allowed me to make meaningful connections with others and gain a better understanding of what lies ahead…The biblical integration offered a deeper understanding of how to connect with God's word on a personal level.”

“The integration of Christ-centered values, academic rigor, and supportive encouragement created a transformative atmosphere that will influence my approach to research and service for years to come. As I move forward in my doctoral studies, I carry with me the lessons learned, the relationships formed, and the profound sense of purpose that this residency has instilled in me.”

“Learning about the intricacies of methodology was exceptionally helpful. There wasn't a single session, but the combination of helpful hints, best practices, and lessons learned from peers who are in different parts of their completion journey that support my planning and process over the next year.”
