Your student experience is worth celebrating! Commuter Life has you covered with exciting events for you to connect, grow, and enjoy yourself alongside other commuter students. From our flagship experiences like the Commuter Tailgate and our Introvert Happy Hour to upcoming event series aimed at your holistic development, check out the opportunities you have to connect and grow as a commuter student.
Upcoming Events
We’re excited to start the year with this awesome chance to orient you to all things off-campus. Come with your questions, and a smile to meet the Commuter Life Team! This required Orientation will cover different material than what is covered in the All New Student Orientation and will help you get connected during your first semester at Liberty as a commuter student.
The Saturday before classes begin, First-Year commuter students are invited to explore Washington D.C. with Commuter Life staff! If you are brand new to Liberty (a freshmen or transfer student) and you live off-campus, then you are a First-Year Commuter! Please bring about $25 for lunch and souvenirs (breakfast and dinner are on us). Registration details coming soon!
Join us on Main Campus on the Divinity Lawn from 12- 3:00 p.m., Monday August 24. Lounge on Main is a way to meet Commuter Life staff, connect with other commuter students, enjoy some delicious County Smoake and pick up a fun surprise!
At the Commuter Life Hacks Mixer, you can meet other commuter students and hear from experienced commuters who will tell stories about living off-campus and give you helpful life hacks as you start your commuter experience!
Let's Hang Out S'more is more than a fun play on words. This is a great opportunity to come meet your Commuter Coordinator, make some new friends, and fellowship with one another over some tasty s'mores! On Thursday 8/27, meet us at the Hydaway Bonfire Amphitheater for delicious s'mores, and yard games to celebrate week one in the books. Be sure to meet your Commuter Coordinators! We will have all the s'mores supplies you'll need.
Bring your competitive sportsmanship to the East Sand Volleyball Courts for the 3rd annual Volleyball Showdown. Invite your friends to join a team, or hop in and make new friends. Teams of 6 will compete for the winning prize, tournament-style! There will be plenty of yummy drinks and some small snacks.
Commuter Tailgates
Join us as we celebrate the Liberty Flames with an exciting tailgating experience for commuters. We always have free food, drinks, and sweet treats, along with games, inflatables, and giveaways.

Location & Parking
Commuter Tailgates for football games will be held in the Football East parking lot across from the Student Entrance of the Football Stadium.
Commuters can park in general parking and walk over to the tailgate, with premium access to enter the stadium before kick-off.
Commuter Tailgates for hockey games will be held in the LaHaye parking lot. Commuters can park in the LaHaye parking garage.
Rain Plan
At Commuter Life, we try to be a “no cancel” team! In the event of forecasted rain, we’ll update our Instagram and website details with an alternative indoor location for pregame fun. The anticipated location for tailgates during a rain plan is the Commuter Lounge in Green Hall 1875.
