Criminal Justice Program

Area of Study in Criminal Justice

Prepare for a career in criminal law as a prosecutor, criminal defense attorney, or public defender with an Area of Study in Criminal Justice. This area of study offers a comprehensive curriculum and summer externships. You also have the opportunity to participate in clinical programs and the Criminal Law Society. Moreover, you will benefit from Liberty Law’s nationally recognized faculty and the experience they bring to this area of law.

To earn the Area of Study in Criminal Justice, a student must complete the following courses with a grade of B- or higher.

  • Criminal Law
  • Criminal Procedure
  • Evidence
  • Advanced Criminal Procedure

In addition, two of the following elective criminal justice courses must be completed, only one can be an externship or a clinic.

  • Child Abuse and the Law
  • Criminal Law Externship (can only be used once)
  • Federal Jurisdiction
  • Prosecution Clinic (can only be used once)
  • Virginia Criminal Procedure

An audited course cannot be used to satisfy an area of study requirement.
