Experience

Judge Thompson received her J.D. from Liberty University School of Law in 2012 and now serves as a judge on the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court for the 23rd Judicial District of Virginia.

While in law school, Judge Thompson interned for Commonwealth Catholic Charities in Roanoke, Virginia, where she worked on pro bono immigration law cases and interned for Poarch Law (now Amaryllis Law), an immigration and adoption law firm. When she graduated from law school in 2012, she began working for Amaryllis Law full time, becoming partner in 2020 and owner in 2022. She enjoyed immigration law because of the variety of cases—from representing prestigious employers to advocating for children and victims.

Judge Thompson was on the Federal Bar Association Immigration Law Section board for many years and won Lawyer of the Year in 2024. She was appointed to the Salem City School Board before taking the bench. Judge Thompson was appointed to the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court for the 23rd Judicial District of Virginia by the General Assembly. Her six-year term began on July 1, 2024.

Judge Thompson lives in Salem with her husband, four children, and two dogs.
