Experience
A licensed attorney from the State of North Carolina, Amanda Jo Gwaltney, Esq., has a passion for both law and library science. She has previous experience in legal research: During her time in law school, she worked for both the Ehrhorn Law Library and the Supreme Court of North Carolina Library. Gwaltney also has real-world knowledge of criminal law, as she was employed by the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of North Carolina from 2024 to 2025.
Further highlights from her employment history include graduate work for the International Centre for Missing & Exploited Children and undergraduate work for the nonprofit Becky’s Fund, which supports survivors of domestic violence.
Her most recent scholarship includes a paper called, “Dead Fiche? An Experimental Design Examining Microfiche and Microfilm Usage by Law Students.” She has also recently written an annotated bibliography entitled, “The Legal History of American Dueling.”
Gwaltney is committed to the integration of biblical principles in the study of law and approaches legal research from a biblical worldview. “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding” (Proverbs 9:10, NKJV).
Gwaltney’s personal interests include Austenian literature, English horseback riding, and archery.
