Student Achievement Success Outcomes

Liberty University develops student achievement goals and measures in alignment with our mission to develop “Christ-centered men and women with the values, knowledge, and skills essential to impact the world. Through its residential and online programs, the university educates men and women who will make important contributions to their workplaces and communities, follow their chosen vocations as callings to glorify God, and fulfill the Great Commission.”

The unwavering commitment to student achievement is anchored by a structured annual review cycle dedicated to evaluating key performance measures such as retention rates and graduation rates to ensure they align with our institutional mission and goals. This ongoing, methodical assessment allows us to celebrate areas of strength, address emerging challenges, and demonstrate our persistent focus on achieving excellence in student outcomes.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Undergraduate Completion

  • IPEDS First-Year Retention Rates. The University has established goals for the first-year retention rates of all first-time, full-time, bachelor’s degree-seeking undergraduate students. These rates are expected to fall within the defined threshold and target goal averages.
  • IPEDS Six-Year Graduation Rates. The University has established goals for the six-year graduation rates of all first-time, full-time, bachelor’s degree-seeking undergraduate students. These rates are also expected to perform within the defined threshold and target goal averages.

Comparative Analysis of KPIs

Each indicator reflects an outcome based on the academic performance of the first-year cohort. At a minimum, outcomes should meet the threshold of acceptability, based on a rolling five-year average of IPEDS national data for four-year private not-for-profit institutions. The target goal represents the ceiling of performance, based on the average of the most recently reported IPEDS data from peer institutions.
