Urban Education Club

The Urban Education Club was established to provide teacher candidates, who feel called to teach in urban environments, with meaningful experiences that will prepare them to be successful in urban classrooms. Over the course of two semesters, students will participate in field experience, actively participate in a book study, and attend presentations from guest speakers and panelists about their experiences in urban education. This club experience is designed to provide teacher candidates with greater perspective on urban education and the social issues that often affect students in low-income, urban communities.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Urban Education Club at Liberty University is to provide undergraduate teacher candidates with immersive experiences that highlight the realities and challenges of teaching in low-income, urban communities. Our goal is to increase the number of teacher candidates who pursue careers in urban communities in order to increase teacher retention in urban schools.
