Biography
Dr. Shawn Ruiz serves as a full-time faculty member at Liberty University, where she is an Assistant Professor of Education. Before transitioning to higher education, she spent 17 years teaching in K–6 public and Christian schools as a kindergarten, third, fourth, and fifth-grade teacher. During that time, she also mentored beginning teachers through the University of California, Irvine’s Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) program. Dr. Ruiz is passionate about preparing future educators and equipping them with strong foundations in literacy and instructional practice. At Liberty, she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in curriculum, instructional methods, and student teaching, with a heart for mentoring teacher candidates as they step into the profession.
