Prepare for a wider range of career opportunities with a Minor in English from Liberty University. With this minor, you can develop critical reading and writing practices while strengthening your communication and thinking skills.

Here, you can select courses emphasizing writing, language, and literary study – while learning to read closely, think analytically, write persuasively, and communicate complex ideas to a variety of audiences. You’ll also learn to evaluate the ideas and literature of diverse cultures while gaining a deeper appreciation of your own.

This minor offers a flexible curriculum where you can:

• Conduct research and practice evidence-based reasoning
• Strengthen clear and persuasive writing abilities
• Study literature across a range of periods, authors, and genres

Liberty’s English professors are credentialed in their field and have specialized knowledge across a range of authors, literary traditions, criticism, and writing.

For hands-on learning, you’ll also have the opportunity to participate in our English Honors Society and in the publication of LAMP Magazine, the Humanities Department’s literary journal. Here, you can gain the chance to publish original creative works as well as work on the editorial team.

This minor is offered through the Department of Humanities and is open to students in any major.
