Michael Hall
Biography
Michael Hall has been Liberty University’s Director of Debate since 2007.
Under Coach Hall’s leadership, Liberty University Debate has won more than 30 First Place National Championship Rankings. His teams consistently win tournaments in all three divisions of debate. Under his direction, Liberty University regularly qualifies for the elimination rounds of the National Debate Tournament, debate’s oldest and most prestigious tournament.
Coach Hall has served as the President, Vice President, and Secretary of the American Debate Association. He is a continuing member of the Julia Burke Foundation Award Committee and serves on the board for Campus Outreach Lynchburg. He has taught at the University of Michigan Classic, Arizona State University Debate Institute, and the Liberty Debate Institute.
Since 2004, he has assisted political candidates at the federal and state level with messaging strategy and preparation for speeches, interviews, and debates. He has worked with more than 25 candidates for the United States Senate, more than a dozen gubernatorial candidates, and three presidential candidates.
Prior to coming to Liberty in 1998, Coach Hall was the Director of Debate at Penn State University. He was a varsity debater at Liberty University where he earned his BS in Communication Studies.
