Residential B.S. in Physics Program
Curious about how the universe works and skilled in solving complex problems? With a B.S. in Physics from Liberty University, you can use your degree to prepare for technical roles in industry or government laboratories, data-focused positions, or engineering-related work. Or you can begin your journey toward graduate work that can lead to a career as a physicist, astronomer, materials scientist, and more.
Here, you can develop skills like analytical reasoning, mathematical modeling, experimental design, computational problem-solving, data analysis, and more. This degree is designed to equip you with a strong technical foundation for careers and graduate programs that value quantitative reasoning, experimentation, and problem-solving. The program is designed to help students:
- Understand physical laws
- Apply mathematics to real-world systems
- Conduct experiments
- Analyze data
- Communicate scientific results clearly
Hands-On Experience
Our physics students can gain applied experience through laboratory courses, computational physics assignments, upper-level experimental work, and the physics capstone experience
Here, you’ll also have access to laboratory spaces and equipment that support hands-on work in mechanics, electricity and magnetism, and optics. Our students use laboratory instrumentation to collect and analyze real measurements, compare experimental results with theoretical models, and develop technical skills.
Our Physics Professors
Faculty teaching in the physics program are grounded in their faith and bring expertise in areas such as theoretical, experimental, computational, nuclear, and particle physics. Beyond content expertise, our professors mentor students in scientific reasoning, laboratory practice, mathematical modeling, technical communication, and the integration of faith and learning within the study of the natural world.
The B.S. in Physics is also available online. The Department of Mathematics offers this degree.
