The Jerry Falwell Library has an extensive print collection.
The Automated Storage and Retrieval System (ASRS) can store and retrieve up to 420,000 items, utilizing three robotic cranes. Items from the Jerry Falwell Library Catalog can be requested and picked up at the library’s Customer Service Center within minutes.
Although the bulk of the collection will only be accessible through the robotic system, students will still have direct access to approximately 56,000 of the newest and most frequently used items in the library’s main collection.
The new Virtual Shelf Browse will allow you to see other items from the library’s collection that would be shelved adjacent to the item you search for in the JFL Catalog. The displayed items can be in any format (print book, e-book, DVD, etc.) and in any location (Book Tower, Robotic System, Caudell Reading Room, etc.) but will still display next to each other in the Virtual Shelf Browse. This gives you the ability to quickly identify other items on the same topic that may be of interest and is an enhancement over the traditional shelf browsing in that it incorporates all formats. Simply click on the title of interest, scroll down, and click on the Virtual Shelf Browse to pull up a full shelf of titles. Click on any that are of interest to learn more about the title.
