Using Social Media Icons

Do you long for icons to adorn your pages when linking to social networks? Well, covet no more. The following social media icons are available for your use:
- X (formerly Twitter)
- YouTube
Benefits of Using These Icons:
- Users will get a better overall experience when browsing our site if the icons are standardized across all Liberty.edu department pages.
- Icons are instantly recognizable.
Follow These Steps to Use EDU Icons:
- These icons are added through a shortcode – a small, simple piece of code that allows for customization and expedites the process of adding an element to your page. Our shortcode is encased in brackets and requires three pieces of information:
- The icon slug name (slug=” “)
- The URL the icon should link to (href=” “)
- The width of the icon (width=” “)
- Here are the icon slug names available to choose from. Be careful, as slug names are case sensitive.
Icons in Black
- twitter-x
- youtube
Icons in White
- facebook-white
- instagram-white
- twitter-x-white
- linkedin-white
- youtube-white
Icons in Brand Colors
- facebook-fullcolor
- instagram-fullcolor
- linkedin-fullcolor
- youtube-fullcolor
- Once you have gathered all the needed information – the slug name from above, a link to your social media page, and the width the icon should appear (sizing between 32-42 pixels tends to be a good starting point) – you can assemble your shortcode.
Ex. of an Empty Shortcode: [icons slug=" " href=" " width=" "]
Ex. of a Complete Shortcode: [icons slug="linkedin" href="https://www.linkedin.com/company/liberty-university" width="32px"]
- If you are using the Classic Editor, paste your shortcode onto your page where the social media icon should appear. If you are using the Block Editor, add a Shortcode block and paste your completed code into the block. Your end produce will look something like this on the front-end of your page:
