Frequently Asked Questions
What different types of Internal Award can I apply for?
Please review the above “Award Categories” found on this webpage.
Can I ask for funding after I’ve presented at a conference?
All funding must be requested prior to the Research Conference, Event, or Project.
How long will it take to receive funding?
Application review can vary depending on the season, budget, application alignment, and departmental priority. This is a competitive process that undergoes several stages of review. Once your application is received by OSPR after receiving Chair and Dean approval, we ask for at least ten business days for review.
Does OSPR write me a check? How do I receive funds?
Once your application is approved, OSPR and Finance work together to create an Award for you. Think of your Award as a brand-new account created specifically for your grant, containing only the funds you were approved to receive. Your Award can take up to two weeks to be processed and fully loaded into your Award FOAPAL once your Award is activated. If you are a student, you will need to work with your faculty sponsor or department administrator to spend down the funds using Liberty processes (P-card, BuyLU, etc).
How do I reconcile my Internal Award?
Use Emburse to reconcile to your Internal Award FOAPAL.
I’m traveling for my Internal Award – how do I notify LU SEND?
Once your Internal Award has been approved in full, you will need to apply for travel through LU Send.
