Summer Experiences: Urban Impact – Options Jr. Crew Summer Day Camp Intern
Options Jr. Crew Summer Day Camp Intern
Urban Impact
Urban Impact’s Options Department supports high school students as they transition through high school and prepare to launch into post-secondary life. Though the Options Department primarily serves high school students, UIF begins to engage and develop these students as early as 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. One way UIF does this is by empowering a select group of middle school students to serve as volunteers at Urban Impact’s Summer Day Camp, where these students were once campers themselves. Jr. Crew is the program through which this small group of middle school students is discipled in what it means to follow and serve Jesus.
The Options Jr. Crew Intern will work alongside Options Staff to plan and facilitate this summer’s Jr. Crew program. They will be required to be present at Summer Day Camp daily to oversee, disciple, and instruct the middle school students as they participate in Bible Study, serving, life skills development, and recreational activities. In full, the Jr. Crew intern will be responsible to:
- Attend Summer Day Camp daily (8am-4pm)
- Curriculum and schedule development
- Lead Bible Study
- Lead middle school appropriate summer activities
- Coordinate with those overseeing High School Staff
- Complete administrative tasks as they relate to Jr. Crew
- Maintain open lines of communications with parents
- Abide by Urban Impact’s discipline protocol
- Assist in transporting students to and from program (if able)
- Maintain a personal devotional & prayer life
