Whether across the world or just outside one’s front door, Christ-following professionals are answering God’s calling on their lives to serve and grow in their field. On April 11-12, students and healthcare professionals are invited to the Remedy East 2025 conference at Liberty University — the third time it’s been hosted by Liberty — for a time to be inspired to live missionally in the field of healthcare.

The event is hosted by Liberty in conjunction with the Christian Medical and Dental Associations (CMDA) and is open to students and professionals in all medical fields, including behavioral health. This year, Continuing Medical Education credits as well as a dental track are being offered at Remedy East.

The theme of the conference is “Ask, Believe, Glorify,” emphasizing the drive among Christian healthcare workers to give God the glory in their careers. The theme is based on John 14:12-14, in which the apostle John tells God he will “do whatever You ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.”

The speakers for the plenary and breakout sessions represent a variety of roles and experiences in healthcare. Two of the five plenary speakers are from Liberty: Senior Vice President of LU One Greg Dowell and Professor for Theology and Global Studies Dr. Chris Gnanakan. Other plenary speakers are Samaritan’s Purse Vice President of Programs & Government Relations Dr. Ken Isaacs, Centra Health nurse Tiffany Covarrubias Lyttle, and Christian Medical and Dental Associations CEO Dr. Mike Chupp.

Other speakers from Liberty include Dr. Gineska Castillo, director of Liberty’s online Master of Public Health program; School of Behavioral Sciences Dean Dr. Kenyon Knapp; School of Nursing Professor Lisa Gazan; Dr. Linda Mintle, chair of behavioral science at Liberty University College of Osteopathic Medicine (LUCOM); and Liberty University School of Law Assistant Professor Natalie Rhoads.

“Remedy East is a place where we’ve seen God’s spirit show up powerfully, touch hearts, and change lives,” said Doug Lindberg, CMDA Director Center for Advancing Healthcare Missions. “We anticipate Remedy will again be a spiritual mountaintop experience and will provide fresh insights into how and why we serve. We are expectantly praying that Jesus and His Kingdom will be honored, and that all who attend will be moved to take steps of obedience to live for Him with fully surrendered hearts.”

School of Nursing junior Christina Bantseev has attended the Remedy conference at Liberty the last two years. She said the event changed her perspective and motivation for medical missions.

“At the Remedy Conference in 2023, I learned about the wide array of options and opportunities for medical missions both in the U.S. and internationally,” she said. “Before this, I had never seriously considered medical missions, but after the conference I knew I needed to begin praying about it. At the conference (last year), I felt the Lord asking me to take my new desire and put it into action. I felt the Lord ask me to take a step of faith and apply for short-term mission trips in the next year.”

Over 20 exhibitors will present ways to enter into missional living, and representatives from organizations like Samaritan’s Purse, MedSend, and Medical Education International will be on hand to speak with conference attendees.

The event will take place primarily in the Montview Student Union, Alumni Ballroom with classrooms in the adjoining DeMoss Hall serving as breakout spaces.

The conference is open to all undergraduate students, graduate students, trainees, and healthcare professionals from Central Virginia and beyond. The cost for students and trainees is $25. General admission is $75. Register at remedy.cmda.org.
