Liberty Law is proud to recognize Ms. Roniqua Archer and Ms. Chavioleyette Fenelus on their big win at the ABA Regional Representation Mediation Competition held earlier in March.

The ABA holds four virtual regional competitions over two weekends in the spring. The two regional co-champions from each region are invited to compete in the finals. With this win, Archer and Fenelus will now compete in the ABA National Mediation Competition on April 15-16 in San Antonio, Texas.

The second team from Liberty, Ms. Jordan Jalil and Rachel Worley, also made it to the regional final round. They competed in two preliminary rounds and won both of them. In the last round of regionals, our Liberty teams competed against each other with Archer and Fenelus prevailing.

“Our teams are amazing,” said the team’s coach, Dr. Mantilla. “I have observed the entire competition, and I can assure you that they competed in an admirable fashion, both in skills and professionalism.”

According to the Law Student Division of the ABA’s website, this competition “…introduces law student participants to the challenges of representing clients in mediation. The judging criteria reward those participants who use an effective combination of (i) advocacy and (ii) problem-solving. Advocacy in mediation means that lawyers should advocate for their client’s interests with the mediator…Participants must balance their clients’ interests with the goal of achieving an effective settlement.”

We are very proud that our Liberty Law teams excelled in every area of this competition.
