Live Abundantly, Pray Abundantly

Whatsoever series

Let us live the abundant life that Jesus gives us (John 10:10), and in all that we do (Colossians 3:17), let us do it wholeheartedly for the Lord (Colossians 3:23)!

We started this year by putting a spiritual battle plan in place and our spiritual armor on. Many days and nights, we have taken up arms and battled in prayer for our students, and the Lord has provided faithfully in ways we might not ever have imagined. It has been an amazing year! “Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice” (Philippians 4:4, ESV).

Commencement and degree presentation ceremonies are on the near horizon. If your student is graduating, as both of mine have in the past few years, there is a sense of completion. No more classes! And yet even still, going into spiritual battle as their praying warrior continues. We have been praying for what will be, for their education and decisions to lead to the vocation that God is calling them, for whom they marry, where they will live, and how they will provide for themselves. We have prayed also for ourselves to know, rely on, and grow in His peace and wisdom as our children have been at college.

As we so often have prayed this year, let us do so again and ask for the Lord’s blessing of provision and protection of their lives for Him! May our students live in the center of His will, loving Him and loving others (Matthew 22:37-39); submitting all their heart, mind, body, and soul to the LORD (Luke 10:27); exercising His grace and mercy through the gifts, talents, and skills that He has given them (1 Peter 4:10); and may they praise Him through all times, the good and the bad, the easy and the hard (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

The LORD will equip them everywhere that He calls them. He loves them faithfully and without end.

For those families whose students are looking at this summer break as a much-needed regrouping before the next academic year begins, continue too in your prayers this summer. The Parent & Family Connections Office is lifting you to the Lord even now and will keep doing so into the next year.

May you all feel the Lord’s presence and peace as you support your student’s God-given call. May you know the sweet mercy and grace that He gives as He equips the next season of your family’s life. As we live, let us also pray abundantly, in all that we do, and wholly for the Lord.

“For the LORD is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations” (Psalm 100:5, NIV).
