Biography
Dr. Melissa Ostrander currently serves as a core faculty member for the Department of Counselor Education and Family Studies at Liberty University. Clinically, she and her husband, Dr. Chris Ostrander, own and counsel within their private practice solely through telehealth, serving clients in both North Carolina and Florida. She is also a qualified supervisor in both states. Dr. Melissa Ostrander specializes in postpartum issues, anxiety, and couples counseling, utilizing attachment informed cognitive behavioral therapy. She is also active in advocacy efforts in the counseling field serving as the 2020-2023 Treasurer and the 2023-2026 Chair for the Florida Counseling Association Foundation. Dr. Ostrander has professionally presented on topics of postpartum, counselor wellness, ethical issues, and spiritual integration in counseling. Her research interests include postpartum issues, social anxiety and sexual shame, gatekeeping in counselor education, and integration of spirituality in counseling.
