Biography

Dr. Smith is a licensed clinical mental health counselor and licensed school counselor in North Carolina (NC). She has over 20 years of experience working with at-risk children and teens in schools and community settings. She is a telehealth therapist for a local medical pediatric practice specializing in military families, grief and loss, and disordered eating behaviors. In addition, she serves on the Southern Regional Crisis Recovery Network Team for North Carolina, an innovative team trained and ready to respond in the aftermath of school and community crises.
Before joining Liberty University Faculty, Dr. Smith was an Adjunct Professor for Walden University and The University of North Carolina at Pembroke. During the pandemic, she was a bereavement counselor with FirstHealth Hospice and Palliative Care of Pinehurst, NC. Dr. Smith’s passion is trauma and grief work with youth and their families.
