Advertising Team Practicum

Liberty University participates in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC), sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF).

Students spend the academic year bringing their campaign to life in a 21-page creative marketing brief that displays their creative research methods, campaign design, tactics, deliverables, commercials, media plan, budget, and campaign evaluation. Students then travel to present their plans book and 20-minute campaign pitch to a panel of advertising professionals.

Over the past five years, Liberty University’s team has gone from placing third in their district to taking 2nd place at the national level. The team has also recently been awarded Best in Research for District 3, 2018, and the Jeanie Ruedy Best Presentation Team Award, 2019.

  • The NSAC, which started in 1973, involves more than 150 colleges and universities nationwide.
  • LU participates in District 3 with schools in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. Schools participating include the University of North Carolina, University of South Carolina, Wake Forest University, Washington and Lee University, Appalachian State University and Radford University.

The NSAC client is announced by the beginning of the academic year in September, and teams spend two semesters preparing their campaigns for presentation in April; past clients have included:
