Alexander Lagos Choquecahua was born and raised in Lima, Peru. He moved to the United States in 2004. He currently works as an assistant professor for the Department of Social Work at Liberty University. He is a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) in the state of Maryland.
He worked for four years in child welfare as a foster care worker. He also worked as a liaison/interpreter for the Hispanic community in the counties he used to work and reside in Maryland. He is also a member of the NASW, CSWE, NACSW, and AACC.
He moved to Lynchburg to pursue a second master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University. While as a student at Liberty University, he presented at the Virginia Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (VACES) in 2017 and 2018. He plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Social Work and do mission trips to Latin American countries and work with immigrants and refugees.
He currently serves as a leader in his church Ministerios Embajadores del Reino (Kingdom Ambassador Ministries) in Lynchburg.
