Bethlehem Baptist is a country church in Evington, Virginia, a 24-minute drive from the Liberty University campus. The number of congregants has dwindled recently due to a mass exodus over church-related matters. We currently meet at 11:00 am on Sunday mornings for worship and again on Wednesday at 6:30 pm for prayer/and bible study.
Our most immediate need is the re-establishment of a praise and worship team that can lead and assist me in planning the Sunday morning worship services. In addition, I need individuals who would be interested in running and overseeing the operation of the soundboard, live stream, and creating a website and Facebook page that would help rebrand our church. I currently have two male youths who have a servant’s heart and take care of these things, but they would benefit greatly by having others who are more spiritually mature and experienced in these areas working with them.
LU students seeking CSER hours and experience in these areas are desired because of their faithfulness and desire to serve Christ. The members of the church are loving people who are excited about the prospect of investing in the lives of young people and LU’s mission of training young champions for Christ.

The Southwest Virginia Partnership (SWVP) was founded by three Baptist Associations (Clinch Valley, Powell River, & Wise) and the Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) in 2009 and became an independent 501(c)(3) public charity in 2017. Our mission is to advance the Kingdom of Christ by putting His love into action – one person, one family, one community at a time. SWVP has two resident full-time missionaries looking for in-person and remote help in their service to southwest Virginia communities. In-person service may involve assisting resident missionaries with hosting mission teams, leading Bible studies, preparing for construction projects, organizing the local food pantry, ministering to nursing home residents, and assisting local church ministries. Remote or online service opportunities vary based on the skill set of the CSER volunteer, but may include assisting with SWVP social media, online presence, website, advertising, marketing, communications, arts, engineering, education, or other projects. Combinations of in-person and remote/online service are also possible. The SWVP is willing to host SWVP CSER volunteers at “The Manor” in Nickelsville, VA, a SWVP facility where mission teams stay. CSER volunteers may choose to stay in Nickelsville during Spring Break for 20 to 40 hours of service. Weekends and multiple stays are also an opportunity for in-person service hours during the Spring Term. There will be no cost to SWVP CSER volunteers for lodging at “The Manor.” SWVP CSER volunteers will have to provide their own transportation and food. This is an opportunity for students to work with and learn from full-time missionaries who have been following the Holy Spirit and serving Christ, by showing His love to the communities of Southwest Virginia for over 15 years.

Total Action for Progress (TAP) helps individuals and families achieve sustainable, equitable economic and personal independence through education, employment, affordable housing, and safe and healthy environments.
The goal of the TAP VITA program and Tax Clinic is to help families with income less than $69,000 claim the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credit, as well as promote financial empowerment through education and coaching. The tax clinic is a vital community resource offering an accessible alternative to costly and predatory tax services. The tax clinic provides free, high-quality tax preparation to low- and moderate-income individuals across the state of Virginia.
Taxes may not sound glamourous, but at TAP’s Tax Clinic, they’re a powerful tool for change. In partnership with the IRS, TAP provides full training and support to help you develop meaningful skills and experience. This service opportunity will include guiding clients through the intake process, helping clients with paperwork through interviewing, preparing tax returns using IRS software, and determining eligibility for this free service.
This is a volunteer-driven program and has operated since 2002. Volunteering at the tax clinic helps taxpayers avoid predatory tax preparers, access the refunds they’ve earned, and build lasting financial stability for families. A few hours a week can create ripple effects that strengthen an entire community.
