The Vice President of Development is responsible for the leadership, management, and implementation of comprehensive philanthropy programs supporting both the short- and long-range fundraising objectives of the Office of the President. The Vice President also provides professional direction, expertise, training, and support to the departments of Development, Planned Giving, and Alumni Relations. As the University’s major fundraiser, the Vice President of Development serves in assisting the Office of the President as lead strategist and solicitor for acquisition of all gifts and donations to the University through fundraising, deferred giving, as well as, stewardship programs for annual, capital, and special projects.
Deryl serves as the Director of Advancement Operations and Analytics for the Liberty University Office of Development.Following graduation with a degree in Business Management from Liberty Baptist College in 1980, Deryl began working for Dr. Jerry Falwell where he served as Associate Editor of the Moral Majority Report newspaper and co-director of Marketing. In 1989, Deryl served as director of marketing for the Liberty Home Bible Institute and the 15,000 Club scholarship program. From 1998-2002 he also served as executive producer for Dr. Falwell’s live weekly television program “Listen America.” and as president of Liberty Alliance, a grassroots lobbying organization founded by Dr. Falwell in 1992. From 2009 through 2017 Deryl served as Director of Institutional Advancement for Liberty University School of Law, working with the Office of the Dean in development and fundraising.
Deryl also holds an M.B.A. degree from Liberty University and a Master in Theological Studies degree from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary.

Brad is a proud alumnus of Liberty University, graduating in '84 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science. After serving in LU's Planning & Construction Department as a Planning Coordinator, Brad returned to his roots at Liberty by moving to LU Development. Brad had previously served as a Project Manager for Liberty and the Old Time Gospel Hour during the 1980s. "By far, the most exciting aspect of working here at Liberty University, is hearing and sharing stories from graduates, who are carrying forth Liberty's mission as Champions for Christ," says Butler. Brad and his wife, Claudia, share 5 adult children and 2 grandchildren, between them.

Jeff is a 1993 graduate of Liberty University with a degree in Bible and Biblical Studies. He has spent 25 years building relationships and raising funds for non-profits and church planting efforts. In 2018 Jeff returned to Liberty to work in the areas of development and alumni relations. His goal is to connect alumni with the University and each other, through events, personal visits and networking. Jeff loves encouraging people to reach their full leadership potential, helping them to impact future generations. He is married to Christy and they have three children.

Susan began working for Thomas Road Baptist Church in 1975 and has since worked for a number of ministries associated with Dr. Jerry Falwell including, the Old-Time Gospel Hour, Liberty Broadcasting Network, Liberty Alliance, and finally, Liberty University. During her time at Liberty University, Susan served in the Marketing Department as manager of Operations and Customer Relations. In this role, she supervised Donor Services, Data Entry, the Call Center, and Fulfillment. She currently serves as the executive assistant to the vice president of Development and manager of the Development Call Center.
