Residential Public Health Policy MPH

Make a lasting impact on society in your career by creating healthy environments, preventing the spread of disease, and protecting the vulnerable through community outreach, policies and decisions, and formal legislation. The Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Public Health Policy degree program focuses on the development, analysis, and implementation of policies aimed at improving population health.

Public Policy workers often serve at the intersection of healthcare, government, and community needs. With this degree program, you will learn how to use policy levers to address public health issues.

With a concentration in public health policy, you will be prepared to develop, implement, and evaluate policies and strategies in health care and public health. Upon graduation, you will have the following competencies to be able to:

  • Describe the utility of evidence-based theories and frameworks, such as logic models, in the design and implementation of public health programs.
  • Describe the legal basis for public health and health services.
  • Analyze public health data to evaluate policy impacts on the target population.
  • Discuss, evaluate, develop and implement policy options to improve population health status, especially among vulnerable populations.

In this program, you’ll learn how to improve health and health systems at the local, national, and global level. Graduate with the knowledge and skills to contribute to the efficacy of public health, healthcare, and population health impact. Students will also use research and evidence-based methodologies to learn how to inform decisions, develop policies, and design creative strategies to improve health care delivery and public health systems. Additionally, the public health policy specialization helps professionals evaluate the best use of research, investments, and resources to improve health in all communities.
