Residential Epidemiology MPH
Get equip to address modern public health challenges and drive meaningful change in society. Through the Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Epidemiology, you’ll gain the tools to investigate and actively address public health issues. Here, you’ll learn to apply cutting-edge methodologies to the prevention and control of a diverse array of health challenges, including infectious and non-infectious diseases, injuries, environmental exposures, natural disasters, and even acts of terrorism.
The Master of Public Health (MPH) with a concentration in Epidemiology sets itself apart by focusing on the critical analysis of health outcomes and diseases within populations. Unlike other concentrations, this one emphasizes the study of patterns, frequency, causes, and risk factors of health conditions and events, ranging from localized communities to global populations.
Depending on your degree concentration, with a Master of Public Health, you will be able to analyze data, shape public health policies, contribute to monitoring public health threats, and conduct public health research. In the public health fields, an M.P.H. is comparable to an M.B.A. in the business sector.
Key areas of study for the concentration in Epidemiology include:
- Disease causation theories
- Epidemiological study designs (cohort, case-control, cross-sectional)
- Measures of disease frequency (incidence, prevalence)
- Surveillance methods
- Infectious & chronic disease epidemiology
- Biostatistics
- Research Methods
- Public Health Practice Applications
Our professors in the MPH in Epidemiology program are grounded in their Christian faith, hold advanced degrees, and have expertise in epidemiology and public health research, biostatistics and data analysis, as well as infectious and chronic diseases.
Liberty University’s Master of Public Health (MPH) program offers students access to state-of-the-art facilities and resources to enhance their educational experience. With the M.P.H. practicum, you’ll be able to apply the knowledge and skills you learn in the classroom to real-world experiences in the field under the direction of a preceptor/supervisor and with guidance from the Director of Practicum.
The Master of Public Health is offered by Liberty’s Department of Public Health in the School of Health Sciences.
CEPH Accreditation
The Department of Public Health degree programs are accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health (CEPH). This is in addition to Liberty University’s institutional accreditation.
