The Office of Risk Management partners with Liberty University departments, staff, and students to promote a safe and secure campus. We prevent accidents, reduce risk, and protect the university’s people, property, and resources through coordinated risk-mitigation programs, insurance management, and professional claims handling. Risk Management Support
The Office of Risk Management at Liberty University supports faculty, staff, and students by identifying, reducing, and managing risks associated with university activities while ensuring appropriate insurance coverage and safe operational practices.
- Assists with proof of insurance requests for off-campus events or exhibits
- Reviews vendor Certificates of Insurance for adequate coverage
- Facilitates contract reviews for insurance requirements and policy terms
- Conducts risk assessments and mitigation consultations for travel, projects, and events
- Oversees insurance claims reporting and management
- Advises on risk mitigation strategies and insurance coverage
- Provides guidance for activities such as entering contracts, planning events, hosting visitors or volunteers, inviting vendors, guest events on LU property, international programs, vehicle use, and hazardous exposures

Certificate of Insurance & Proof of Coverage

The Liability Risk Management applies various practices to minimize the chance of Liberty University leadership and employee legal liabilities.

Vendor Insurance

Student Accident Insurance applies to residential students attending our Lynchburg, VA campus.

Contracts Risk Management
Through Contracts Risk Management, our office reviews contracts, agreements, and procurement provisions to protect the university from potential financial losses in its interactions with outside organizations.

Fine Arts and Property of Others
In most cases, fine arts or other items loaned to and placed in the care, custody, and control of university departments can be covered under the university’s Property Insurance Plan. Learn about Fine Arts and Property of Others documentation.
