For those of you who read my column each issue, first I want to say thank you. It is such a blessing that there are people out there who care to read what I have to say. I am truly appreciative to have this outlet where I can talk about the things that matter to me to those who will listen.

But second, I want to address some changes you may notice in future issues — this will be the final paper where my pretty pink graphics are found on page 14 of the sports section.

See ya, sports

After nearly four years of writing for the sports section, moving up from being a volunteer to assistant to lead sports editor, my time in the section has come to an end.

In this first semester of my senior year, I have been tried and tested in ways I did not expect, and now that we are in our final issue of the semester, I have finally received some clarity.

This semester I have been handed many responsibilities, each one causing me to feel less and less like I am in control. Finally, I hit a point where I realized that I had been given too much and that I could not bear the weight any longer.

The good news of this is that in the trials and tribulations I was reminded that none of this weight was ever truly mine to carry. In fact, I was trying to hold things that were never mine in the first place. In this, I have felt the Lord forcing me to let go and let him take the reins. The funny thing is, when you give God control of your life, you often end up getting placed in positions that you never expected.

Just kidding, I’m still here

Did you think I was quitting? Absolutely not. Instead, I’ve been promoted! Next semester, I will be taking over as editor in chief of the Liberty Champion. As bittersweet as it is to move out of the sports section, I am excited to see what comes next.

But don’t worry, my heart is still with sports, so don’t be surprised if you still see my name in this section every once in a while. So, I won’t get all sappy quite yet — you still have another semester left of seeing what’s on the Whiteboard.

White is the sports editor for the Liberty Champion.
