Contest continues: Presidential candidates campaign with differing strategies

Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump continue to make their final strides to win Americans’ votes.

Harris joined two church congregations in Georgia Oct. 20. According to NBC News, Harris attended New Birth Missionary Baptist Church and spoke on “how faith can guide people.” During her time at Divine Faith Ministries International in Jonesboro, Georgia, Stevie Wonder led the group in singing “Happy Birthday” to Harris as she turned 60 on Sunday, according to ABC News.

Trump took a different approach to his campaign Oct. 20 as he served french fries at a McDonald’s location in Pennsylvania. According to The Associated Press, Trump answered questions from those in the drive-through line prior to attending a town hall event in Lancaster, Pennsylvania later that day. In response to his previous claims that Harris never worked at McDonald’s, Trump said, “Now I’ve worked for 15 minutes more than Kamala,” according to a report by The Washington Post.

Both candidates attended rallies across the U.S. to gain more supporters Monday.

Harris visited Wisconsin, Michigan and Pennsylvania alongside former Republican congresswoman Liz Cheney Oct. 21. According to Reuters, Cheney warned the public that “Trump is a threat to democracy.”

Trump made campaign stops in North Carolina to visit areas damaged by Hurricane Helene. According to Fox News, Trump stopped in multiple locations across the state, including Asheville Oct. 21.

In the final two weeks before the election, both candidates will continue to campaign in swing states in order to gain more supporters before Nov. 5.
