Jordy Searcy to perform concert at Liberty

For his debut at Liberty University, Jordy Searcy will perform a concert hosted by Student Activities Feb. 10 at 8 p.m. in the LaHaye Event Space.

Searcy is a pop-genre artist known for his indie pop and Christ-themed lyrics. He was first spotlighted in 2015 on “The Voice.”

He left the show and decided to go on the road to make his own music.

Most students can relate to his song “Love & War in Your Twenties,” which is Searcy’s No. 1 song.

The song came out in 2018 and was a part of his first album, “Dark in the City.”

Since the song was released, it has been streamed more than 45 million times.

Assistant Director of Student Activities Sarah Byrd said that she looks forward to seeing the excitement of the students since a Searcy concert has been such a popular request.

“We try to find artists (who) are up-and-coming, who have a passion for their craft and connect well with our students. Jordy fits all those bills and more,” Byrd said.

Searcy grew up playing music in church with his family and now has more than 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify.

“You don’t have to be a big fan,” Liberty student Sabryna Jackson said. “He has good music, and anyone could go to his concert. His music is low-key Christian, but you can see in his music that people are drawn to it, and all people can listen too.”

Searcy has been touring for the past few years. He is currently on tour with Ben Rector and Stephen Day on The Old Friends Acoustic Tour. Searcy released his most recent album “Daylight” in June 2022.

According to Byrd, Kailee Dishmon, a songwriting student at Liberty, will open the concert.

“Where else are you going to find a cheap concert?” Jackson said. “You’ll never have a chance to go to a concert at this convenience again or this cheap. I recommend it to all students.”

Tickets are $10 and are available at their website.
