Students can design their own table for trunk or treat

Hydaway Outdoor Center will welcome students for a night of fun and celebration of the Halloween season, Saturday, Oct. 29. A trunk or treat table competition will provide students with the opportunity to design their own table, and the winner will win a $200 Waffle House gift card.

“The event serves to give students a fun event to enjoy for the end of October,” Chris Knight, coordinator of special events at Student Activities, said. “Students should attend this event to enjoy many of the activities that are a staple for this season.”

Knight encourages students to come in their best Halloween costume and participate in the events.

“On top of trick-or-treating, hayrides and carnival games, we will be giving out pins at the event, as well as playing the movie ‘Monster House,’” Knight said.

For those interested in the chance to win the Waffle House gift card, they and their friends can sign up online on the Student Activities page. It costs $25 to enter the competition.

Those who register will receive a 10-foot area with an 8-foot table and up to $50 worth of candy to hand out. They can play music but must keep the sound within their 10-foot space.

All tables must be finished and decorated prior to the event so that they are ready be put on display when the event begins.

For those not competing in the table decorating competition, the event will start at 7:30 p.m. at Hydaway Outdoor Center. Parking is limited to the first 200 cars.
