“I’m coming to the end of my career here and am realizing more and more that I need to see each and every workout, practice and game as a gift. So I want to invest in as many teammates as possible and work as hard as I can each and every day,” senior Liberty guard Jesse Sanders said.

Sanders reached several milestones over break, setting the all-time Vines Center single-game assist record, with 16 against Montreat, and scored a season high 22 points against the Hampton Pirates. Sanders became the 22nd player entered into the hallowed 1,000-point club against Richmond. Sanders had 14 points on the night.

Sanders also became the first player in Division I history to post a triple-double in each of his four seasons. He accomplished this mark in a win against High Point, where he finished with 14 points, 13 assists and 10 rebounds.

Coming off a seven-game losing streak, the Flames defeated Virginia Intermont 78-60, the Hampton Pirates 74-65 and Montreat 91-73.

Warley

The Lady Flames basketball team defeated Glenville State, 116-65. Senior center Avery Warley grabbed 18 rebounds. Later in the break against High Point University, Warley became Liberty’s all-time leading women’s hoops rebounder.

The Lady Flames went 6-2 over break, knocking off Big South foes Campbell, Coastal, Charleston Southern and Radford.

“I believe the highlight over winter break and overall for me is to see us come together, and learning how to win together. Just realizing who we are along with our weakness and trying to get better and better everyday,” Warley said.
